THE PIVOT

Mastering Pivoting in Boxing: Stay Agile and Unpredictable

Today, we’re focusing on pivoting. This essential footwork keeps you agile, evasive, and always in a position to attack or defend.

Why Pivoting Matters

Pivoting allows you to change angles quickly, dodge punches, and set up powerful counters. It makes you unpredictable and hard to hit.

How to Pivot

  1. Set Your Stance: Start in your basic boxing stance with your feet shoulder-width apart.

  2. Pivot on Your Lead Foot: Lift your rear heel slightly and rotate your body using your lead foot as the pivot point.

  3. Move Smoothly: Keep your weight balanced and your guard up while pivoting.

Practice Tips

  • Stay Relaxed: Fluid movements are key. Avoid tension.

  • Small Rotations: Use controlled, small pivots to maintain balance.

  • Regular Drills: Incorporate pivoting drills into your training. Shadowbox or follow our video.
